(despite the fact that our readership levels are reasonably good)

In particular I also think all those sympathetic to the pension reform cause need to be writing to Swan, the Greens, Fielding and Xenophon now - before it's too late...

I'm hoping, also, that the Greens may be able to secure a deal... I remember them saying a while ago they'd secured a $30/week rise... (anyone got confirmation of this???)

If they could get as much as $35/week for all full single pension rates (including the unemployed) it would be a victory of sorts... (of course couples ought not be left behind here too.. Pension formulas must the set to provide effective equality between Single pensioners and couples...)

Sure I've argued for more - (see my article on the CPSA's position) and I think more would be just - but at this point I'm not sure what the best is that we might be able to expect...

An exception is Sole Parents - who need much more to provide for their families... Here we need a distinct formula which delivers these families from poverty...

Finally: As far as I can discern, some newer Disability pensioners had their rates cut under Howard...with the exception of those continuing in their pensions without interruption... Whatever the case, all Disability pensioners should receive an increase (at least $35/week on top of the higher/continuing rate) ...and must be brought to parity in the full rate...

Everyone - don't give up - Bombard Government Senators and those on the cross benches between now and the Budget...

sincerely,

TristanTristan Ewinshttp://leftfocus.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6920488656220463337.post-25028505319338791212009-05-08T12:42:00.000+10:002009-05-08T12:42:00.000+10:00Recessions do not only bring about tough times fin...Recessions do not only bring about tough times financially. Sadly, they set men against men and raise moral issues that most of us would rather not have to consider.JobSearchNinjahttps://www.integritycareertransitions.com/servicesforindividuals/careerconcierge.aspxnoreply@blogger.com
